Desert Island

I love Top 5 Lists... or Top "#" Lists of any sort. What are your top 5 movies of all-time, that you would take with you to a desert island for the rest of your life? (trilogies, etc. count as 1 movie)

You can tell from my list that A) I'm a total nerd, and B) My taste in movies does not match my mental acumen in the least. I find dumb things funny.

1. Lord of the Rings Trilogy
2. Star Wars Trilogy
3. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
4. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
5. Best in Show

If you liked Best in Show, you should check out Waiting for Guffman. No need for high mental acumen to watch that movie...

Also, do Trilogies count? I mean, technically that would be three movies, not just one, making your list more like a Top 9. Just asking.

Nicole. Duh. I own Waiting for Guffman. And yes, especially those trilogies, as they are simply one story arc that continues through 3 films. Not like Weekend at Bernie's 2, which really doesn't have anything to do with the original.

And also, any Christopher Guest film is only appreciated by those with some intelligence, I was mostly referring to the Will Ferrell films about stupid stuff.

Interesting you should say that Christopher Guest films are only appreciated by those with intelligence because Robert absolutely cannot stand his films.

And, fine. You win about the trilogies counting. It is your Top 5 list after all.

Maybe that says something about Robert... just sayin'.

These are not so much my top five movies of all time as my top five COMFORT movies of all time, i.e. those I would want to watch over and over on a desert island (with a DVD player):
1)Some Like It Hot
2)French Kiss
3)Raising Arizona
4)Pride and Prejudice (BBC version, NOT Keira Knightley version)
5)A Mighty Wind

Trilogies can't count as one movie, because they aren't one movie.

I'm with Tat here. Some of the best movies just aren't the kind you can watch over and over.

1. Sabrina (the new one with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond)
2. The Lake House
3. What's Up Doc?
4. Pride and Prejudice (also the A&E version)
5. Bringing Up Baby
